RESPECT

Respect should not be confused with mannerisms, agreement, disagreement, following or unfollowing. When you respect someone, you are sympathetic, cooperative, cool and loving towards that person, irrespective of the agreement or the disagreement.

If someone has some opinion about something and you don’t agree with that opinion, but you still do not express your disagreement, it simply means that you are respecting that opinion. It does not necessarily mean that you have the same viewpoint.

On the other hand, if someone has some opinion about something and you, coincidentally, happen to have the same viewpoint, it does not necessarily mean that you are following that person. It simply means that you agree with that opinion by the grace of your own wisdom. Your agreement is a reflection of shared perspective. Now whether you respect or agree, you are sympathetic, cooperative, cool and loving.

For example, if you belong to a certain religion, obviously you agree to the ideology of that religion, but you respect all other religions in spite of disagreement with their ideology. To respect, you need not agree because it is your character. Out of your own nature or character, you respect a person, a religion, an ideology or a situation.

Therefore, to agree you need not follow because you agree due to having the same viewpoint by the grace of your wisdom and you respect because of your good nature and character.

RESPECTED FOR BEING HUMAN
I found a heartwarming story about someone respected for being human. I could not resist sharing it.
