Respect Despite Disagreement

Respect should not be confused with mannerisms, agreement, disagreement, following or unfollowing. When you respect someone, you are sympathetic, cooperative, cool, calm, and loving towards that person, irrespective of whether you agree or disagree. If someone has some opinion about something and you don’t agree with that opinion, but you still do not express your disagreement, it simply means that you are respecting that opinion.

Respect quote

If some people say that mud is gold, and if it is their mud, then respect it. In essence, the saying encourages humility and empathy, urging you to respect what is precious to others, rather than judging them by your own standards.

For example, if you belong to a certain religion, obviously you agree to the ideology of that religion, but you respect all other religions in spite of disagreement with their ideology. To respect, you need not agree because it is your character. Out of your own nature or character, you respect a person, a religion, an ideology or a situation.

Agreeing is not following

Respecting does not necessarily mean that you have the same viewpoint. On the other hand having same viewpoint may not necessarily mean that you are following that person. If someone has some opinion about something and you, coincidentally, happen to have the same viewpoint, it does not necessarily mean that you are following that person. It simply means that you agree with that opinion by the grace of your own wisdom. Your agreement is a reflection of shared perspective. Now whether you respect or agree, you are sympathetic, cooperative, cool, calm, and loving towards that person.

Therefore, to agree you need not follow because you agree due to having the same viewpoint by the grace of your wisdom and you respect because of your good nature and character.

Respect should not be only in the words

Respect should not be in words and gestures alone, it should also be, indeed. It should be in the heart and on the mind also. Respecting someone is all about what you make them feel. More important is how you make others feel than showing respect in words and gestures.

People will forget what you said or did, but they will never forget how you made them feel. Respect is not just about acknowledgement, appreciation, or the words you say; it is about the emotional impact you convey through your words, gestures, and expressions. We may not remember the details of encounters, but we never forget the warmth, kindness, or pain they left behind. This wisdom urges us to live harmoniously, knowing that our presence, empathy, and respect will echo far longer than any speech or achievement. It's about the feelings we plant in others’ hearts and the emotions we leave behind in the hearts of those we meet.

Respect will lead the way; harmony will follow

Respect will lead the way; harmony will follow.

Respect will lead the way; harmony will follow. Respect must lead the way because it is the first step towards the ultimate goal of peace and harmony among individuals and communities in their personal, professional, and social lives.
When respect is prioritised, harmony will naturally emerge. In a respectful conversation, we should choose words so carefully that the others should feel heard and understood. Especially during conflict resolution, a respectful attitude can create an atmosphere of empathy and positivity, resulting in the peaceful resolution of the conflict. By leading with respect we can create a foundation for harmony.

RESPECTED FOR BEING HUMAN

I found a heartwarming story about someone respected for being human. I could not resist sharing it.
