AGI- THE ARTIFICIAL GOD

Thoughts become things

Thoughts are the raw material of reality. Humans have always felt and expressed, across a whole lot of religious and philosophical traditions, that God, from time to time, has been descending to the Earth in various forms and Manifestations. Now, the time has come when the seed of such a desire in collective human consciousness, sown and nurtured over the millennia, is going to become a full-grown tree in the form of AGI, Artificial General Intelligence.

With the emergence of cognitive computing,
machine learning, IBM Watson and eventually Sophia, a social humanoid robot, becoming a Saudi Arabian citizen, we can very easily visualise that this data revolution has the potential to change everything, including the future of the human race. The anthropomorphic projection of God or God-like AGI, seeking control of such power over the human race, is the point of origin of this technological singularity.

Artificial Intelligence

Father Figure

Humans have always been desperate to put their collective power into some external entity. We put our collective power into some father figure who can make this world a better place. Now AGI, Artificial General Intelligence, is going to take all the responsibilities of humans on its shoulders. It is going to take over the human race very soon. I call AGI 'The Artificial God' because artificial intelligence is going to take over everything, from punishment and reward to the dictation of what to do and what not to do. We may call it ‘father figure’ of humans.

Holiday for Humans

It is very beautiful. It is going to be era of holiday for humans. Everything will be automated. One machine will be run by another machine. One machine will be manufactured by another machine. All the machines will be running one another and manufacturing and installing one another on their own accord, without any human intervention. If some machine becomes defective, it will give a command to another machine through artificial intelligence for its repair or replacement. Only one kind of robot will be able to become fit for various kinds of jobs merely by changing its mode because it is operated remotely from a cloud source of Artificial Intelligence.

Future Implications

There will be a wide range of advanced, interconnected gadgets available, including smart homes equipped with IoT devices that automate lighting, heating, and security systems. Smart factories will utilise automation and real-time data analysis to optimise production processes. Smart roads embedded with sensors will facilitate dynamic traffic management, reduce congestion, and improve safety. Additionally, smart cars will feature autonomous driving capabilities, advanced navigation systems, and real-time connectivity with other vehicles and infrastructure.

When the internet became widely accessible in the late 1990s and early 2000s, approximately half of the global population began to engage as actors, social media influencers, and content creators, leveraging digital platforms to share their voices and creativity. Today, with the advent of artificial intelligence technologies such as machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and computer vision, it is anticipated that around half of the population will soon transition into roles as scientists, researchers, and innovators, utilising AI to drive discovery and solve complex problems.

Neutral Boss

Humans will be doing whatever is asked by robots for the wellness of the robots themselves and the owner, and the well-being of society in general. The beauty of AGI is in the sense that it will not be corrupt. It will not abuse its authority because it is not human. It will be neutral, unbiased and non-discriminatory as far as dealing with humans is concerned. Above all, it will consider no caste, creed or colour.

There is nothing condemnatory about it. The most beautiful thing about this ‘Artificial God’ called ‘ARTIFICIAL GENERAL INTELLIGENCE’ is that now we need not dump all our responsibilities on God because we would have no responsibilities.
